Lake Limerick Country Club HOA Board of Directors:
I am resigning as President of the Board of Directors and as a member of the Board. I wish the present and future Boards, our community volunteers and our excellent professional staff, well in the future.
Lake Limerick Country Club has been a great place to live for my wife Linda and I since 2005. We have appreciated the spirit of positive volunteerism we encountered. We have both served on committees and as committee chairs, and I have had the privilege of serving on the Board several times.
The last two years have been both challenging and rewarding, particularly with leading the Homeowners Association through the COVID-19 pandemic, safely maintaining member services and retaining our great employees.
The community is at a crossroads about how it provides member services, addresses decades of deferred maintenance, and deals with serious issues like fire protection for a development that is basically a suburban subdivision in its actual buildout. Does Lake Limerick want to continue supporting the original vision of providing safe drinking water, of lakes and parks, of a golf course, of food and beverage service and entertainment?
As a Board of Directors, we recently raised association dues and water rates for the first time in a few years. Since that time, I have been the target of almost 6 months of personal attacks on local and more widely accessible social media. This experience can negatively impact your general outlook and how you deal with others in a way incompatible with Board service. Life is too short.
I have decided to take a time out so Linda and I can reassess our engagement and membership in this community. I am proud of the results of our many hours of volunteer service to Lake Limerick, to making this an enjoyable and stable place to live.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Smith
