July 5, 2023 Lake Limerick Community Fire Update
We are thankful our community was saved yesterday from the adjacent fire in the McEwan Prairie Road area. As of this morning, DNR reports the fire is 0% contained with 150 acres still burning. Fortunately there is no reported loss of homes nor lives. The evacuation areas remain the same until further notice.
The Lake Limerick Community acknowledges all those involved in the continued efforts to put the fire out. We say thank you to:
– First responders including DNR, local, regional dispatched fire departments and Sheriffs
– DNR helicopter pilots for drafting water from Lake Limerick
– Moses Lake DNR for sending a DC10 for firefighting support
– Macecom for updating information to me regularly by phone
– Gary Wilson our Lake Dam boat patrol volunteer who cleared the Lake for DNR helicopters
– For all Members and their guests who followed the NO FIREWORKS ban to keep our Community safe
– Our Community for staying ready to evacuate if determined necessary to save lives
Please stay informed and always check on your neighbors.
The weather remains hot with air quality concerns and changing winds.
The Lake Limerick Inn Great Hall is open for a COOLING CENTER including the Lounge at 4pm and Restaurant at 5pm.
