Help from waterfront lake lot owners requested!
Vegetation growth in Western Washington lakes is high this year.
Lake Limerick and Lake Leprechaun are no exception.
To help slow down the rapid spread of lily pads around our lakes, lakefront lot owners are requested to pull any lily pads that can be found in the water around their lot(s).
Pull them out by the roots and deposit them on the beach to dry-out. Once dry, throw them away in your garbage.
Don’t leave them in the water or they will continue to spread and add to the “bio-muck” on the bottom of the lakes.
For pond weeds and other vegetation beyond the reach from the shoreline, LLCC has “Lake Razers” you can borrow from LLCC’s Pro Shop ($50 refundable damage deposit required).
Lake Razers cut vegetation to help prevent continued seasonal growth and can be cast 10-15 feet from the shore.
Please collect the cuttings and dispose of them as you would the lily pads.
It is expected the yearly weed treatments LLCC performs will not occur until after July 26, when the State of Washington’s window for lake treatments opens.
This year’s treatment is not expected to knock back the lilies. A concentrated attack on the lilies is in work with our limnologist and the vegetation treatment company,
but not expected to be implemented until next season, so having members contribute to lily and weed removal now will help the entire community enjoy LLCC’s lake amenities longer!
