Mason County Burn Ban – Updated
Total Burn Ban in Effect, Effective Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Due to recent fire activity within Mason County, effective immediately, all outdoor burning, including campfires, charcoal briquettes, and weed burning using torches, is restricted until further notice.

First Burn Ban: June 5: In accordance with a policy adopted by the Mason County Commissioners to be consistent with the Dept. of Natural Resources and restrict certain burning activities when the National Fire Danger Rating System is at a moderate level, effective 12:01 on June 5th, 2025, LAND CLEARING and RESIDENTIAL BURNING shall be prohibited on all Mason County lands not under DNR or Federal jurisdiction.
Please note that recreational burning (i.e,, cooking fires using charcoal or firewood in a metal, concrete or rock circle no larger than 3 feet in diameter) is still permitted. However, it is anticipated that as warmer weather continues, this activity will be restricted in the near future. Also permitted are any propane fires.
