Fireworks Prohibited Resolution
The Fireworks Prohibited Resolution 2026-01 was approved by the Board of Directors at the 5-16-2026 board meeting.
Some of the key points:
- Fireworks are prohibited in Lake Limerick because they are considered a noxious and nuisance activity under the community’s Declarations of Restrictions.
- The resolution is based on serious wildfire risk in the community due to:
- Hot, dry weather trends in Western Washington and Mason County
- The forested nature of Lake Limerick
- Limited wildfire suppression capacity from the community water system
- Illegal fireworks are already prohibited by Washington State law and Mason County ordinances. Examples include:
- Bottle rockets
- Firecrackers
- Skyrockets
- M-80s
- Aerial shells and similar display fireworks
- Legal fireworks are also subject to penalties in Lake Limerick once Mason County issues a burn ban.
- Effective immediately:
- Use of legal or illegal fireworks after a burn ban may result in a $1,000 fine
- Use of illegal fireworks at any time may also result in a $1,000 fine
- Members are responsible not only for their own actions, but also for the actions of their Tenants and Guests.
- Violations may also lead to a member being designated “Member Not In Good Standing” for up to one year
- Loss of good standing can affect access to Lake Limerick services and may lead to additional legal action
The Board is asking members to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the resolution for the well-being of the entire community
